Pulp provides a studio infrastructure for artists of all disciplines.
Whether you’re tackling an ambitious concept album, multimedia production, or immersive experiential design, we’ve built an environment that respects your process and a staff that champions creative thought.
Comprised of two recording studios, 10,000 sq. ft. of art and fabrication space, and a village of shipping containers repurposed as offices and studio spaces, Pulp is located in east Gainesville, Florida.
You probably know that "Operations Director" means the person that makes ends meet, but maybe not that it also means almost everything else no one has the gumption to do. Somehow both funny and no-nonsense, Ciara is the glue that holds Pulp together.
Davis likes to make stuff in the shop and has been known to tinker on engines. Sometimes he does a little producing/engineering.
Liz is a multidisciplinary artist, musician, and teacher. At pulp she assists the marketing team in designing digital content, photographing recording artists, and documenting live shows. In her free time she enjoys planning DIY art and music events, hosting jam sessions, and rearranging her apartment.
Steve wears a lot of hats at Pulp. He leads our Pulp Presents team, books studio time, contributes to the social media and content creation teams, as well as dream building in the business and artist relations departments. He’s your go to nerd if you want to talk effects pedals and synthesizers.
Danny cut his teeth in audio engineering as a multi-instrumentalist songwriter, producer, and artist in his own right. His musical projects include Jane Jane Pollock, Danny, and Room Thirteen. Having spent the last 6 years audio engineering live events in New Orleans and as a technical director for live productions across the southeast, he joined the Pulp team as a full-time studio engineer in Gainesville in April 2019.
Colin is the Project Manager for our Contemporary Arts Fabrication team, but he thinks it’s funny to refer to himself as a “Physical Content Strategist". On his own time he’s an oil painter, but at Pulp he helps turn others’ ideas into reality.
Pulp’s Visual Arts Director, Erin Curry, promotes artist forward programming, seeks opportunities to engage conceptual work for commercial needs, and builds relationships with artists in the Southeast. As an interdisciplinary installation artist, Erin was commissioned to make artwork housed in the recording studio and stuck around to see how to forward the favor of similar opportunities to other artists. Erin also headed the collaborative installation at FORM music festival this year.
Evan is a staff artist at Pulp, lending his ten years of experience in sculpture and installation art toward conceptualizing and fabricating a range of art and design projects. He is also initiating an ecological artwork on Pulp's campus. Following a holistic approach to landscape design, the project embraces interspecies collaboration at all levels to increase biodiversity and ecological health, and create a unique sense of place within Pulp's acreage. Evan holds an MFA in Sculpture + Extended Media from Virginia Commonwealth University.
Abigail Clark is a visual artist who works in sculpture, photography and video. She received an MFA from California College of the Arts in 2013 but is a Gainesville, FL native. Her job is to infuse Pulp’s digital facade with intrigue, beauty, and weirdness. Additionally, she is the caretaker for Pulp’s two special felines, Rabbit and Penny.
Senta is the hospitality coordinator and a staff artist at pulp. She specializes in ceramics, crafting custom pottery for the campus. She also makes sure that recording artists are provided with plenty of drinks, food and snacks while working in the studios.
Winston has been making music and engineering sound since childhood. Recording mixtapes from the radio as a second grader, he discovered multi-tracking by using two boomboxes. He started out engineering punk bands in warehouses in Oakland and over the last 17 years has honed his craft across professional studios in the Bay Area. His musical projects include Saything, Ted the block, and a yet unnamed modular synth project. He loves building modular synths.
Nelly has been making music since she could walk. A multi-instrumentalist songwriter and producer behind post-punk projects such as Naked Lights, Surplus 1980, and most recently Smiley, she started her professional engineering career in Oakland after graduating with a degree in Sound Arts from SAE’s Expression College in the Bay Area. She loves getting drum sounds, recording to tape, and her dog Bogner (named after Ursula Bogner, minimal analog synth legend of the 1960’s).
Lily is the studio intern/runner at Pulp. From washing dishes to organizing equipment, she ensures day-to-day life runs smoothly. In her free time she enjoys looking at various shades of beige and making music.
